Ad Astra Audiology

Ad Astra Audiology, founded by Dr. Chloe Bennett, represents a deeply personal and professional commitment to enhancing hearing health in Finney County. With a passion for medicine, a strong affinity for hands-on work, and a desire to maintain a healthy work-life balance, Dr. Bennett found her calling in audiology—a field that perfectly integrates technology, patient care, and lifelong learning.

A Journey Back Home

Dr. Bennett completed her undergraduate studies at Kansas State University before earning her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Kansas. Despite potential opportunities elsewhere, the pull of home proved too strong to ignore. Both she and her husband, Shane, are Holcomb High School graduates with family still residing in the area. Recognizing a significant gap in local audiology services, she made the decision to return to Finney County and open her own practice.

Building Something Unique

Ad Astra Audiology is currently the only private audiology practice in the region. Dr. Bennett was drawn to private practice after working in a hospital setting where she found limited flexibility. As she began raising her young family, she realized the need for a professional structure that allowed her to prioritize both her patients and her personal life. Founding her own clinic offered the freedom to do both.

The practice offers a full suite of hearing care services, including hearing evaluations for patients aged five and up, hearing aid fittings and dispensing, cochlear implants, auditory rehabilitation, custom noise protection, and veteran services through the VA. With a focus on patient-first care, Dr. Bennett is committed to providing accessible, high-quality hearing solutions to those who need them most.

A Name That Reflects Purpose

The name "Ad Astra Audiology" draws inspiration from the Kansas state motto, Ad astra per aspera—to the stars through difficulty. The name, which was a collaborative idea between Dr. Bennett and her husband, reflects her drive for excellence and her deep Kansas roots.

A Personal and Professional Investment

The practice is currently staffed by Dr. Bennett herself and audiology assistant Britnie, with plans to soon expand by adding a receptionist. With strong demand and a quickly filling schedule, the need for growth is evident.

Dr. Bennett is especially focused on addressing the unique healthcare challenges faced by rural communities. Many patients must travel long distances to access specialized care, with some driving hours just for a consultation. For older adults and others with limited mobility, this lack of local access presents a significant barrier. Ad Astra Audiology is working to close that gap.

To make services more affordable and approachable, Dr. Bennett offers financing options through CareCredit and accepts a variety of insurance plans. She is committed to transparent pricing, clear communication, and patient advocacy, often working directly with insurance providers to ensure that care is both accessible and equitable.

Service and Special Populations

The practice places a strong emphasis on serving underserved populations—particularly farmers, veterans, and individuals who have never had access to hearing care. Providing someone the ability to hear for the first time, or again after years of silence, is one of the most fulfilling aspects of Dr. Bennett’s work.

Overcoming Obstacles, Embracing Growth

Starting a business while pregnant and caring for two toddlers was no easy feat, but Dr. Bennett credits the guidance of experienced mentors, a skilled local accountant, and legal support for helping her navigate the complexities of launching a practice. The most difficult challenge wasn’t the business logistics, but rather balancing her growing family with her entrepreneurial ambitions.

Since opening, the clinic has seen strong community support and high demand. In the next five years, Dr. Bennett hopes to bring on an additional audiologist and expand service offerings. Her long-term vision includes building a custom-designed clinic from the ground up.

Innovation at the Core

With a strong affinity for technology, Dr. Bennett has built Ad Astra Audiology around modern, efficient systems. All documentation is handled digitally, with rigorous cybersecurity protocols in place to protect patient privacy. She remains committed to keeping up with the latest advancements in hearing technology, recognizing that innovation is key to improving patients' quality of life.

A Deeper Purpose

For Dr. Bennett, the most rewarding aspect of her work is witnessing the transformation in her patients’ lives. Whether it's a grandparent able to enjoy a grandchild’s performance or a veteran reconnecting with family, each success story reaffirms the importance of her mission.

Deep Roots, Bright Future

Being back in Finney County means more than just proximity to family—it means being part of a close-knit community with shared values and a collective spirit of resilience. Dr. Bennett is proud to contribute to the growth and revitalization of the area and looks forward to expanding her impact in the years to come.
