    Myca has served as President of the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce since November 2017. She previously served as the director of Garden City Downtown Vision and as the Vice President of the Chamber beginning in 2012. Myca is passionate about working with the business community to enhance economic growth in Finney County. She works with the Chamber board of directors to ensure the organization's programs meet the growing needs of the community. She coordinates the Chamber's legislative activities, business advocacy initiatives, and works with various partner agencies to create a cohesive public-private working relationship.

     

    Myca is a veteran of the United States Air Force having served as part of the 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan Air Base in South Korea, and at Air Force Space Command Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo as well as numerous other military installations around the world. In 2015, Myca was appointed by the Kansas Governor to serve on the Kansas Selective Service Committee and in 2018 was selected by Kansas Senator Jerry Moran to serve on the Military Service Academy Selection Board. 

     

    Myca currently serves as a board member for Garden City Public Schools Foundation. She enjoys reading a good book, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her three children - Kaci - 23, Sydney - 22, and Jacob - 14 and her three rescue cats, Grumpy, Salem, and Loki. 

  • Shonda Collins, Vice President

    Shonda is the Vice President for the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce. She has been a business owner, an adjunct instructor and has a lifetime of community involvement. She was the Chambers’ 2010 Award of Merit having critical development of the Every Voice, Leadership Garden City Program, a former board member, and served on the Business Visitation Committee.

     

    With an interior design degree from the College of Human Ecology, Kansas State University, Shonda worked in the professional field of commercial space planning and interior design for 18 years, achieving successful completion of the NCIDQ, and 11 years of owning and operating Collins Design Associates. Shonda then owned and operated Wheatfields On Main, Inc, a women’s retail clothing store, for twelve years. These years were highlighted by achieving a Brighton Heart Store status, and earning trips to California, China and Taiwan. 

     

    Currently, Shonda serves on state P.E.O committees, Finney County United Way Board of Directors and is a docent for the Lee Richardson Zoo. She and husband, Jeff Collins have two grown children, Taylor a software engineer, and Rachel Welch a special education teacher and husband, Joshua Welch.
