As this Prudential office began to expand the types of products offered and broaden the company appointments, the DBA, The Calzonetti Group was added in 2022 to encompass the entity as a whole. This shift positioned the business as a true one-stop shop, offering home, auto, commercial, health, and life insurance, as well as investment planning, to clients across southwest Kansas and beyond.

Leadership with Heart

At the center of this transformation is owner and Financial Professional Yvonne Sperry. A Garden City native, Yvonne began her career in retail management before joining the family business in search of a better balance between career and family. She quickly earned her life and securities licenses, and later added her property and casualty license, while gaining hands-on experience in all sides of the business.  In January 2023, after the previous owner’s retirement, she took the helm and set out to modernize and expand services.

Yvonne is joined by Angela Bordewick, her longtime friend and now Financial Advisor at the agency. With a background in social work, Angela brings strong communication skills and a deep sense of care to her clients. After starting in home and auto coverage, she went on to earn additional licenses and now particularly enjoys Medicare supplements and retirement planning. Her passion lies in helping this demographic of clients enjoy the benefits they’ve worked so hard for, adding a meaningful dimension to the agency’s services.

Together, Yvonne and Angela are making strides in what has traditionally been a male-dominated field. Their complementary strengths — Yvonne’s drive for growth and Angela’s analytical approach — create a balanced leadership team that keeps clients at the center of every decision.

Another unique feature of The Calzonetti Group is its in-house daycare, run by Ashley, who ensures children from infancy through age 12 have a safe and nurturing place to spend the day. Open whenever the agency is open, the daycare is a lifeline for employees and their families, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to work-life balance.

Ashley receives all proceeds from daycare fees, making it not only an employee benefit but also a supportive business venture in its own right. The daycare has even grown to serve a few clients outside the agency, with strict adherence to state and safety regulations. For the staff, the daycare has created a strong sense of community — birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments are celebrated with both employees and their children.
